This weekend saw the Sexpression:UK 2013 national committee hand over to the new enthusiastic 2014 committee.
On behalf of the whole network, we would like to thank the national committee of 2013 for the incredibly successful year. National coordinator Matthew Tuck has facilitated a vast improvement in the organisation and we wish him all the best in his final year of medical school and his future endeavours. Hugo Cohen was brilliant as the superbly approachable Branches coordinator and consistently helpful throughout the year. Kerry Anderson was instrumental in raising our media profile coordinating Sexpression Leicester’s appearance on the Channel 4 news as well as building links with outside organisations such as Brook and BASHH. Francis Pollen was brilliant in communicating our important work and Laura Hemmer was diligent in keeping the funding organised for the national events and making sure we stay afloat. Emma Whitehall was vital to the initiation of 3 new branches in the UK in UEA, Cambridge and Nottingham which we welcome warmly and look forward to seeing them grow strength to strength. Ellen Adams campaigned to preserve the anonymity of sexual health record, raised support for the New Clause 20 for sex education in England and Wales, and coordinated the network in action on World AIDS Day in her role as advocacy coordinator.
The new committee for 2014 now takes form with Ellen assuming the position of National Coordinator, Charlotte Hayden as Branches Coordinator, Jack Fletcher as Advocacy Coordinator, Behrouz Nezafat as Funding Coordinator, Emma Whitehall continuing as Training Coordinator, Josh Kroll as Communication Coordinator and Pippa James as Externals Coordinator.We are planning many exciting events for the year ahead building upon the foundations of 2013 to continue delivering the high quality comprehensive sexuality and relationship education (SRE) in the local schools and advocating for statutory comprehensive SRE across Britain.
